"True happiness comes from giving, not getting. To get joy, we must give it, and to keep joy, we   must share it."

There are many faces to Romania's hurting children, but none so desperate or more heartwrenching than those like the one pictured below. These children are often encountered by our staff and volunteers during visits to the burn units in the wards of Bucharest's many hospitals. Children as young as infants, as well as those into their teens, are severly burned (some beyond recognition), in their attempts to stay warm during the brutal and bitterly cold months of the Romanian winters.

Often these children and families find some relief and refuge in the sewers and tunnels that run through the heart of the capital city. However, with greater frequency, the authorities are running these street children and families out of these places of refuge leaving them defenseless and desperate to find shelter and warmth. That is when organizations like City of Hope are the most vital. We are able to provide food, clothing, medical care, shelter, and above all, compassion, to the hurting, the defenseless, and the needy.

Because of you, our partners in this life-changing endeavor, babies, children and families living on the streets have a place of refuge and shelter in their time of need. Thank you so much for your support! It is true joy to be able to see the smile on the face of a child when we are able to provide them with a coat, hats, gloves, blankets and food that they might not survive the winter without. Please remember these children and families during this New Year and may God bless you as you cheerfully and joyfully give to those less fortunate!
